A little help, right here.

Merlin Pro, the trial and billing
Merlin Pro is the whole app: every voice, every book, whole books rendered ahead. It is sold through Apple as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, and eligible new subscribers get a free trial on the two subscriptions. The price and any trial appear on the plans screen before you confirm with the App Store; the App Store confirms whether you are eligible.
Cancel or change a plan
Open iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Merlin. You can also tap "Manage in App Store" under Merlin Pro in the app's Settings. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period or trial ends. Deleting the app or your Merlin account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Apple's own guide: cancel a subscription from Apple.
Refunds
Apple handles billing and refund requests for App Store purchases. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
Restore a purchase
If Merlin shows the plans screen after you have paid, tap Restore at the top of it, or open Settings → Merlin Pro → Restore purchases.
- Make sure the App Store is signed in to the Apple Account used for the purchase.
- If you signed in to Merlin before, sign in with the same Apple Account: Pro is also kept with your Merlin account.
- If Pro still does not return, email us with the app version and the message shown.
Your account
An account is optional. Merlin offers Sign in with Apple after the plans screen so your Pro purchase and your name follow you to a new phone; "Not now" skips it, and you can sign in later from Settings → Account. There are no passwords, and Hide My Email works.
Signing out starts Merlin over on that phone as if it had just been installed: the books, their audio and your settings are removed from the phone, and the downloaded voice stays. Your Pro stays with your Apple Account and your name with your account; both come back when you sign in again.
Delete your account
Open Settings → Account and choose Delete account. Merlin asks Apple to confirm it is you, then removes your account and the name stored with it from our systems, asks Apple to disconnect Sign in with Apple for Merlin, and clears Merlin on that phone. A connection is needed. If deletion fails, nothing is changed and you can try again.
Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription and does not remove your Pro purchase, which belongs to your Apple Account; see above. The privacy policy has the details.
The voice download
Merlin's voice runs on your iPhone. The first time, the app downloads the voice model — about 620 MB, over Wi-Fi only — after telling you so on the welcome screens; then it prepares the voice for your phone, which can take a few minutes on an older iPhone. A lighter built-in voice reads meanwhile, and the status bar at the top of the app shows how far along the download is.
Settings → Storage shows what the voice model and its prepared files take up, lets you clear the prepared files, delete the model, or download it again. Deleting the model stops it downloading again until you ask.
Adding books, articles, PDFs and notes
Tap the Import key on Home. Upload an EPUB or a PDF from Files or iCloud Drive, paste a link to an article, or paste text as a note. From Safari or any other app, share to "Add to Merlin," or open an EPUB or PDF with Merlin from Files.
Add only books and articles you have the right to read. Everything you add stays on your phone: Merlin does not upload your books, and the voice is made on the device.
Report a bug or send feedback
In Merlin, open Settings and tap "Report a bug" or "Give feedback." Write what happened and tap Send: your mail app opens with the note addressed to us and the app version, build, iPhone model and iOS version already under it. You can also email us directly with those details; screenshots help.
Deleting the app? The long-press menu on Merlin's icon has "Deleting? Tell us why." It opens a mail to us and nothing else. One line is plenty; a person reads it.
